Our Curriculum

2023-2024

At Brownsover we are continually looking at ways to improve our provision to ensure that it meets the needs of all of our children and to ensure that the curriculum delivered is engaging and exciting. We aim for all of our children enjoy learning and fulfil their potential academically, spiritually, socially and physically. We also embed our school values of independence, perseverance, honesty, kindness, politeness and respect to help them develop positive attitudes and habits for lifelong learning.

The core basic skills of reading, writing, maths and ICT are taught discretely. Further opportunities for practise, consolidation and application of these skills are provided through cross curricular sessions each week which are related to the particular theme for that term.

In Nursery and Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation curriculum and plan to cover this through child-led half termly topics.

Similarly in KS1 the National Curriculum Programmes of Study are covered through exciting cross curricular themes.

Twinkl phonics programme is used throughout the school as a highly successful scheme to support the teaching of reading and writing.
