  • Fantastic News on our Special Award at Rugby In Bloom Awards

    Mon 14 Nov 2022

What a fantastic evening we had at the awards ceremony.  We were particularly proud to be the first recepient of the Mike Swan Award.

"Brownsover Community School pupils and staff have contributed so much to the Rugby in Bloom and Heart of England campaigns for several years.  The school are extremely passionate in ensuring that every child is involved in gardening; including growing vegetables and they even have a day where the children get to eat the potatoes that they have all played a part in growing, as part of their school lunch. The children are so passionate about gardening and they often go home and tell their parents all about how they have grown plants from seeds. The children have a good understanding of how plants grow and enjoy going home and telling their parents how things grow and how to look after plants! The school have deservedly won awards with the Heart of England campaign and the Heart of England judges always look forward to visiting the school, when judging Rugby."

  • Rugby Foodbank have been in today!

    Tue 18 Oct 2022

Rugby Foodbank have collected all the children and staff's harvest donations today.  What a generous group you are, the Foodbank were really pleased.

  • Rugby in Bloom Ready

    Tue 05 Jul 2022

We were so Rugby in Bloom ready for our Judges Visit!  What a fantastic day.

Here is some of the wonderful feedback we received:

Fiona James at Rugby Borough Council "Both judges mentioned how impressed they were with the school's performance and displays/Bloom efforts.  Gareth hasn't experienced that before and siad it was an absolutely amazing experience.  Myself and Colin are so grateful to everyone at the school.... every pupil, every member of staff and every member of the kitchen staff.  Everything was perfect!!"

Colin Horton, Rugby Borough Council - Green Spaces Officer "Really want to say a massive thank you for everything everyone has done. Was wonderful to see and think should be really proud about Rugby and all the activities, projects, and quality facilities, occurring all year round.  Believe the judges were impressed, but most of all know the residents and visitors are grateful for the positive impact it has – especially after recent times.  Huge thanks again."

Keith Ward, President Rotary Club of Rugby "Can I please thank you and all your staff and pupils for a lovely 'Tour' of the grounds and an excellent lunch"

  • BCS Parents/Carers - Update from the Headteacher - 6 April 2022

    Wed 06 Apr 2022

    Good morning

Just a few updates to share before the Easter break on Friday 8th April:

    Staff changes after Easter

Both Mrs Gordon and Mrs Phillips our Year 1 Australia teachers, will be starting their maternity leave shortly after Easter. I know that you will join me in wishing them both the very best as they await their very special deliveries!  In the meantime, we are delighted that Miss Crane will be joining the Year 1 team as Australia class teacher. Miss Crane has been working in Year 2 here at Brownsover since Christmas and we looking forward to her staying with us for this very special role!

    Start/end school times

After Easter, we will be reverting to our pre-pandemic school start and end times. This means that school will start at 8.50am and finish at 3.00pm for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Make sure that you re-set those alarms so that everyone arrives and collects on time!

We will be continuing to use our one-way drop off and collection system.

Nursery times will remain the same as they currently are.

    Covid update

Over the last week, we have been given new guidance on ‘Learning to Live with Covid’. Although we have relaxed the use of face coverings, we still have clinically vulnerable staff, parents and children so we ask that you continue to respect those that wish to continue to wear their masks and keep a suitable distance when meeting others in school or on the playground. We will continue to encourage the children to exercise good hand hygiene by washing and sanitising their hands when appropriate.

    FABS cake Sale

Our end of term cake sales are back! The FABs team will be on the playground on Friday with a selection of cakes. All cake donations gratefully received and can be brought into school on Friday morning.  Don’t forget to bring your pennies to enjoy a yummy treat at the end of the day!!

    Current Ukraine situation

With the current on-going situation in Ukraine, we continue to see and hear much sadness in the news. We have not directly spoken to the whole school about the developing situation in Ukraine as we appreciate this is a very sensitive matter and parents will want to approach this ever changing situation with their child/ren in different ways. However, please be assured that as a staff, we all continue to be very vigilant to the children’s emotions and concerns, regardless of what they are, and will support children either on an individual, group or phase basis as we deem appropriate. The children are aware they can speak to any member of the team and we are there to answer their questions as factually and age appropriately as we can. I have attached some links below for you to access with your child, should you feel this necessary. Please view them beforehand so you are fully prepared for their questions. As a school community, we will continue to pray for the safety of all people involved in this crisis.

    Think it Pink Care Bags

It has been lovely to receive some messages of thanks following our donation of the Care Bags to St. Cross Hospital. Here are a few of the kind words we have had…

“ I would like to say a huge thank you for the bag my Mum received today… she was touched to receive the bag full of goodies and the beautiful card.”

“Thank you for the bag – I felt privileged to receive it and it made my day.”

“I was delighted to be given a ‘hug in a bag’ and it brightened up a very difficult day…”

“ Thank you for your lovely gift of a ‘hug in a bag’… it was very much appreciated, just what I needed.”

“Thank you for such a lovely though at a difficult time. A bag full of really useful items much appreciated. Thank you to the children and all concerned.”

I wish you all a restful, peaceful, and hopefully sunny Easter break and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 25 April ready for an 8.50am school start.

    Kind regards

    Elisa Basnett

    Headteacher

  • Wear it Pink - Thursday 21st October

    Fri 15 Oct 2021

    Wear it Pink

On Thursday 21st October we would like the children to wear something PINK.

In return we would like monetary donations, of whatever you can afford, to go towards Breast Cancer Care. As we are not accepting cash in school, donations can be made through Pay360 Education Payments ( https://www.pay360educationpayments.com)  under the events section and Wear it Pink, by Monday 1st November 2021.

This year we are going a little different. In previous years we have sent all the money straight off to Breast Cancer Care, but this year we would like to do something that would benefit more people locally. Many of us, unfortunately, know someone who has been affected by this disease.

We would like to supply "A Hug in a Bag" to ladies and gentlemen who are going through chemo for breast cancer and hopefully spread a little joy in what is sometimes an unpleasant treatment day.

We are hoping to deliver as many bags as possible to the new cancer unit at St Cross Hospital in Rugby and the Arden Centre at UHCW, from all of us at Brownsover Community School.

LET’S HELP PUT A SMILE ON AS MANY FACES AS POSSIBLE

    Thank you
