The governors and staff at Brownsover Community School are united in their belief that regular school attendance is essential for children to fully benefit from the educational opportunities available to them. We understand that consistent attendance plays a crucial role in a child's academic success and overall development, and we are committed to supporting families in ensuring that every child is able to attend school regularly and on time.
Brownsover Community School is dedicated to fostering a school culture that promotes a strong sense of connectedness and belonging, ensuring every child has the support they need to attend school regularly and thrive. We believe that excellent attendance is a shared responsibility, and we prioritize it because of the significant positive impact it has on children's learning, well-being, and future success.
We work closely with both children and their families to build strong relationships, ensuring that all students are fully able to access their education and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
At Brownsover Community School, we recognise that ensuring regular attendance is a responsibility shared by the entire school community. We take a staged approach to attendance, celebrating successes while also remaining vigilant in identifying and addressing any barriers that may prevent children from attending school regularly.
There is a strong link between good school attendance and achieving positive outcomes for children. Regular attendance is recognised as a protective factor for children and young people. At Brownsover Community School, we are committed to providing a safe environment, fostering positive relationships, and offering high-quality teaching and learning opportunities that support the development of social and emotional skills.
Establishing good attendance habits early in your child's school life is key to setting them up for future success. We encourage families to prioritise school attendance and create a routine that helps children feel motivated and ready for each school day.
At Brownsover Community School, we believe that regular school attendance is not just about academics. It also supports the development of social skills, confidence, and resilience. By attending school regularly, children build strong relationships, develop their character, and become well-prepared for their future success both inside and outside the classroom.
By ensuring that children attend school every day, we help them maximise their educational and social achievements, while also promoting the development of self-discipline, organisation, and preparedness for the future work environment. Improving attendance and reducing absence, especially persistent absence, is a priority for our school and Warwickshire County Council.
Research commissioned by the Department for Education shows that even a single day of missed school can hinder a child’s academic progress, which may have long-term effects on their future opportunities. As outlined in our Attendance policy, we are committed to working closely with families to identify the reasons for poor attendance and to resolve any challenges as quickly as possible.
We understand that sometimes challenges arise, and we are here to support you and your child. If you ever face difficulties that affect attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can find the best solution to ensure your child can attend school regularly and make the most of their education. We work in partnership with families to identify and resolve any barriers to regular attendance as quickly as possible, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and welcoming environment.
If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, please contact the school office to report the absence by 9:15am each day. We do not authorise holidays during term time. Additionally, if your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
By attending school every day, your child will benefit from high-quality teaching, learning, and enrichment opportunities that help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We encourage families to support their children in establishing good attendance habits from the start, as this foundation will help them succeed now and in the future.
